April 24th, I purchased a Sunpentown SF-611 Evaporative Air Cooler with LCD Panel . I owned the same unit a few years back when I lived in Los Angeles, so I know how to work it and I knew that it would be adequate for my needs. It was a little over priced and there was shipping costs involved, but I live in the desert and I am disabled, so ordering online is what I have to do. The unit arrived a few days later, they never did tell me when it was supposed to arrive, but 3 days isn’t that bad. It worked fine for about 2 weeks. Then, while I was in the other room, it started shooting water all over the place! Within minutes, it was empty and the water had soaked into the brand new carpet! I had just moved in to a brand new house on April 1st. Well, that’s not good. I was mildly upset about it, but I thought, “Let us see what they are willing to do to make this right.” I emailed them that night, knowing they wouldn’t see it till tomorrow because of the late hour. 2 days later they sent me an RMA to return the defective unit and 1 day after that, I received my replacement. A fairly reasonable turnaround time. However, I was required to drive 35 miles to the nearest UPS store to drop off the 1st unit (and 35 miles back) and that I was not happy about. But, whatever, at least I have my new air cooler and now I can enjoy some added humidity (at the time temperatures were in the 100’s and the humidity was around 20%). Well, that unit didn’t last as long as the first. After 1 week, I stepped in a second flooded area of carpet! (this is on
May 25th) Now I’m starting to reach a low boil. I emailed them again and was told, at this point you can have a refund or we can send another unit out today. I choose another replacement (I’m a glutton for punishment!). 2 days later, I get a message stating that the manufacture is trying to figure out what went wrong and wanted me to answer some questions regarding the unit. Well, I don’t work for brillianstore.com and I don’t do Research & Development. So I said, “Send me this other unit I found on the website. It’s even the same price and I’ll be content with that.” But they needed to check on that, to see if it’s an option. A few days later: “Nope, can’t do that, so we will have to refund your money.” Believe it or not, I’m still not that angry yet, because I’m thinking, “Fine send a credit to my card and I’ll drive 40 miles to the nearest Home Depot and buy a completely different unit. I could do that tomorrow and avoid the 3 days it would have taken them to ship something else out to me.” This is now
June 4th and she still needs to send me a new RMA and this time I had to demand that, they pay UPS to come pick it up at my house. So, by the time all that gets done, it’s now
June 8th. The package is picked up and delivered to the warehouse @ 6am on
June 9th. OK, great, now let’s make sure my credit is there so I can rush out and buy a new air cooler….But Wait, there is no credit to my card. OK, must be a bank issue. So I called my bank and they have not received anything about a credit from the “not-so-brilliantstore.com”.
NOW IM ANGRY!!! At close of business today,
June 11th, there is still no credit to my account! Tomorrow will be 49 days since they originally sold me substandard equipment and I have yet to see a credit to my card
. They now have both units and my money – I feel robbed, mugged, taken advantage of…
*The day I purchased the unit, my card was charged within minutes, but a refund takes Days? Weeks? Months?
All I have left to say is: UN BE LIVE ABLE ! ! ! !
