Bought a Sony DSC-F717. A good deal on the camera and delivery was faster than expected. But watch out. Stay away from the accessories. The deals given on the camera purchase are taken away with off brand, inferior quality accessories. I bought a kit through them. Don't do it. Also, watch out for the call to confirm the credit card - it's a sales pitch that will suck in a novice.

I tried to order a DCR-DVD300 from them and got the royal run-around. When I ordered it I was told that it was in stock and would ship in 24 to 48 hours. The only thing that happened in 24 to 48 hours was that they billed my credit card. I called everyday after the third day and after waiting on hold for very long periods of time I was given a different excuse each day (I was hung up on twice). After calling a total of eight times I finally asked them to cancel my order. Now the only question that remains is if they will credit my account in a timely manner.

I had a very good experience ordering from Butterfly Photo. They called the day after my Sony TRV 38 was ordered to confirm. I did not experience the up-sell issues that some other reviewers seem to have had. They simply asked if I needed tapes and I said "no." That was it. The camera made it to my home in three days. The price was great and it was delivered promptly. That's all I wanted and that's exactly what I received.

Ordered a Canon Powershot A80 digital camera with an accessory kit. The camera price was one of the lowest and surprisingly the accessory kit was well priced. I called my credit card company to create an alternate shipping address as I wanted it sent to my office. No problem. I received an email asking me to call Butterfly to clarify shipping address. They tried to sell me some other accessories and were polite when I declined. I did upgrade to a high speed 256 memory card. I would definitely shop here again.

Great price. Fast shipping (faster than they said it would be). I did have to put up with the email after the order asking me to call for "security reasons related to my credit card" when the real reason was the typical "hey, you forgot to order these overpriced accessories" pitch.
But it wasn't bad, and the rest of the deal was pretty hard to beat. I'd use them again without hesitation. |

If you want to have your product shipped to an address other than your credit card billing address, Butterfly Photo fails miserably. Their bedside manner falls short, too.
I wanted a camera shipped to my office because it was a gift for my wife. After waiting six days without so much as an e-mail, I called them only to find they hadn't shipped it because my bank didn't have my office address on file. As well, both Butterfly representatives I spoke with were rude and antagonistic. I promptly canceled the order and placed the order at Amazon (for $63 more). I'll sleep like a baby tonight knowing I'll get what I paid for. |

Called Butterfly Friday, Nov. 14th and spoke to Mike; asked if they had a Fuji Finepix S7000 in stock. They did and I placed the order over the phone. Mike assured me the camera would be here, in Washington, by Wednesday, Nov. 19th.
He was wrong; it arrived Monday, Nov. 17th! This is a great retailer and after searching elsewhere, it would be foolish not to deal with Butterfly and Mike. On a satisfaction scale of 1 to 10 I would give them a 15... In addition to the great service, the camera and memory card I purchased were $80 lower than I found anywhere else and $153 below list. I recently purchased a Sony DCR-TRV80 Mini DV Camcorder from Butterfly Photo. It has been a very pleasant experience. One day after placing my order-on line-I was called to verify my shipping address and to offer me some specials. The camcorder and accessory pack, which included an extra battery, were apparently shipped that same day. I received an e-mail from them with my order number and the next day received an e-mail from Fedex with a tracking number. With the tracking number, I was able to determine the exact day of delivery. The camcorder worked great; however, the extra battery did not work. I called customer service who gave me a return authorization number along with return instructions. The replacement battery arrived within a few days and worked perfectly. I highly recommend Butterfly Photo. I will be shopping with them again!

Ordered Sony DCR-TRV33 camcorder from Butterfly - not the best price, but the best price for its high rating. Ordered "basic" pkg, but received call later in day for upsell on accessories - I bit on a filter, tapes, and battery. I later found out that even with their "sale" price, I could have got these accessories much cheaper at a Circuit City or Best Buy (lesson learned: price shop on accessories, too!). They didn't tell me that the battery was back-ordered - 2 weeks later I still don't have it. I called today to cancel the backorder and was put on hold for over 10 mins - then was hung up on! Called back and routed through purchase (they always answer!), who transferred me to a customer service voice mailbox that was full and not accepting messages! Finally, got through to someone to cancel the order.

I ordered a camcorder, but i couldn't even get the product because my shipping address is different from my billing address. I've never had any problems with receiving things that i ordered at that shipping address before, but they said something about the address not getting through credit verification...whatever...and the person that i contact was almost yelling at me, so i felt offended and canceled the order. The only good thing about the experience is that they just canceled my order without hassles.

I ordered an Olympus C-5000 zoom digital camera from Butterfly and had a great experience. It was one of the lowest prices I could find on the web, the lower prices were from outfits that had 2 or fewer stars. I received the obligatory email stating I needed to call to verify my credit card. They tried to sell me peripherals, at inflated prices, and I declined (a few times). The camera was shipped and I received it two days later. While the hard sell for peripherals is a pain, it is worth it if it means you can by the camera cheaper than elsewhere. If you are willing to put up with that aspect, I highly recommend butterfly.

Talked to a guy by the name of Kevin who was very nice. He offered some additional accessories but was very pleasant and courteous. Order shipped the same day. Was able to track it easily. Camera came even faster than expected, packaged well, everything included. I am Very satisfied. |

I wanted a camcorder overnighted. I called to order so I could verify it was in stock. When I went to purchase the item I was quoted a higher shipping price (69.00 vs 54.95) than the website. I broke off the order thinking I obviously can't trust this guy and would rather have something in writing. I placed my order on-line. 28 hours later I got a call about verifying information. Obviously if it takes them that long to even look at the order they couldn't have gotten it out overnight. I asked if the order had shipped and was told no. In my book, 2-strikes and your out. I cancelled the order.

I ordered a Canon Powershot G5 from Butterfly because their price was a good $160 less than bricks-and-mortar retailers, and was $50 or so less than even other Internet retailers. Because of the low price, I was a bit hesitant to order from them, but was comforted by the good reviews on this site.
I placed my order online for next-day delivery, as the camera was a gift for my Dad that I needed to give him the next day. Due to the importance of getting it the next day, I called Butterfly and spoke to a representative to ensure it would be shipped the same day. The representative was extremely nice, and said he would personally "walk" the order through the process and ensure it was delivered that day. He did try to upsell memory, but was not overly pushy. I got it the next day, as promised. I am extremely happy with my experience, and would not hesitate to suggest Butterfly to others! |

Great experience. They had the lowest price on an Olympus C-750 digital. I needed it fast, so I called in my order. The sales assistant was knowledgeable and pleasant. They did offer the typically "accessories", but were not super-pushy. Do be ware that they may ask you to buy additional items to go with your item. However, declining them doesn't change the price or availability of the item you are after. (like at some outfits). Anyways, he verified stock and price- all as advertised. (very good price, the best!) Shipping was reasonable, and I even upped it to 2nd day because I needed the camera soon. I ordered by phone on a Thursday, the sales assistant assured me he'd process the order quickly. I had the shipping confirmation on the same day, the item came the following Monday, as promised. Great! I'll order from Butterfly again for sure.

I emailed customer service about the availability of some accessories for the camera. No response. A couple of weeks later, I forwarded the inquiry to sales. Again, no response. It's been 2 months since my first inquiry. That's a poor way to treat a customer. |

These People Suck! I specifically asked if the product was in stock and was told twice it was. I placed the order with the understanding I needed to receive it within 6 days. Again I was told no problem. I then paid for 3 day shipping to ensure the product would arrive on time. It took 4 calls to confirm my product shipped. It took 3 days and 5 more calls to get a tracking number. Each time I was promised a call back, but none were ever received. Finally I was given a shipper and tracking number. The number was invalid. I called the shipper and they had no pickups from Butterfly within a week of the shipping date they gave to me. I called 4 more times, to rectify with customer service, and still no where.

ALSO, IF SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOUR PRODUCT IT TAKES 2-3 WEEKS TO GET IT REPLACED. BUT IF YOU ARE TO RE-PURCHASE THE PRODUCT ALL OVER YOU CAN GET IT WITH IN 2-4 DAYS.

I bought an Olympus C5050 with pro shooters kit. Delivery was fast but the kit was just junk.
The tripod plastic head was tilted and unable to lock, the card reader wasn't usable with the memory card I bought with the same order and add-on lens wasn't respcting specs and also giving huge aberrations. Wrote 4 emails receiving back the only answer to call an 800 number. I am in Italy and cannot call such number, I wrote that but I just received no answer!
