I've ordered from Domestications at least twice before, without any problems at all, and always felt I'd gotten decent quality items at a fair price. Well, I don't feel that way any longer! I'd been looking for a medium/dark oak TV stand for several months, and when I was on the Domestications website the other day I found they had just what I was looking for and quickly placed my order. It took just a couple of days for my TV stand to arrive. As soon as I opened the box and got a whiff of the stain and saw the poor quality of the wood, I realized I'd made a big mistake. Why didn't I repackage the item for return right away? It weighs 30 pounds and would've cost me a small fortune to send it back. Besides, I needed something to put my TV on. As I started to assemble the piece, I found none of the holes lined up, a screw was missing, the underside of the top shelf was left unfinished, the second shelf had a huge split in the wood, the front doors overlapped, and there were several areas that were not stained, including all four edges of both door panels. I'm going to have to try to find stain to match to fix all of the mistakes...or in the nicer weather I may have to re-paint or re-stain the piece myself. What a disaster! Shame on you, Domestications, for selling such a shoddy piece of furniture! I'm redoing several rooms in my home and was getting ready to place a large order for curtains with Domestications, but I've decided to take my business elsewhere.
