I placed an order for 2 pairs of scissors from Zaccardi's thru Amazon.com on 12/5/06. The scissors were to be Xmas gifts. On 12/6 I rec'd an email from them stating that the scissors were out of stock and would ship in 4-7 days. No problem, I'd still have them for Xmas. Checked my account on Amazon a week later and the info there said shipped to arrive between 12/11-12/18.
On 12/21 they still hadn't arrived so I emailed Zarrardi's. I emailed thru my Amazon account so the email that they had to reply to was my home email address. I realized this after I sent the email and knew that because I was at work I wouldn't see a reply. So, I called them and spoke to Customer Service. The person I spoke to informed me that the scissors were out of stock indefinitely. I asked if they had them in another color and they did so I asked for those and I asked for them to ship them overnight so I would have them for Xmas and I asked them to pay for the difference in the standard shipping which I'd already paid for and the overnight charge. (They charged my credit card for the purchase on 12/5) I was told that they would not waive the overnight charge. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that there wasn't one and there was nothing that this person could do. At this time I cancelled the order, lodged a complaint with Amazon and left negative feedback for Zaccardi's on Amazon, and placed the order thru another company.
I get home in the evening of 12/21 and check my email and find an email from Zaccardi's stating that they had the scissors in another color and that they would send them to me via overnight with no extra charge - the complete opposite of what I had been told earlier in the day. I emailed the back and told them about my experience earlier in the day and they seemed not to care at all. At no point did the apologize. After I told them that I'd placed an order thru another merchant I didn't hear from them again.
I went back and checked to make sure that my feedback on Amazon was there and I found that they had left a response to my feedback. Here is my feedback and their response:
The items were backordered indefinitely and I was not notified. These were Christmas presents and per the info on Amazon.com they were to arrive by 12/18. On 12/21 I called and was told that they were out of stock. They had another color which I would have ordered but they refused to pay for overnight shipping so I'd have the items by 12/25. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE."

I was stunned to see that they LIED in their response to my feedback. The email I got on 12/6 didn't tell me that there was another color option and it didn't require a response. Moreover, Zaccardi's updated the shipping info on Amazon to show that the order had shipped when it hadn't.
I buy a lot things online and I have never, ever experienced service like this. I strongly advise anyone to think twice before ordering from Zaccardi's especially since there are so many other merchants out there selling the same stuff!
