Product Description

Oliver Stone's self-proclaimed "countermyth," JFK mocks the doubtful veracity of the Warren Commission's findings on the Kennedy assassination and summarizes some of the myriad theories that have been proposed in its contest. Focusing on the investigation by New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison (Kevin Costner) into the activities of the FBI and other government agencies as well as their attempted cover-ups, Stone weaves fact and speculation into a compelling argument for the reopening of the case files. Garrison begins to investigate local links to the assassination, including Clay Shaw (Tommy Lee Jones), David Ferrie (Joe Pesci), Guy Bannister (Ed Asner), Perry Russo (Kevin Bacon), and Lee Harvey Oswald (Gary Oldman). When the accounts of Ferrie, Russo, and others almost invariably diverge from the FBI versions of events, Garrison begins to suspect a cover-up. Widening his net, he interviews many of the original assassination witnesses and again finds little that coincides with the government's re...

When You Don't Know the Truth, Make Something Up: JFK

Date of Review:  Aug 24, 2006
The Bottom Line: An excellently made film that will provide grist for many "what if" discussions, but do not confuse JFK with history.
Review: JFK (1991)

Help, I'm stepping into the Twilight Zone
The place is a mad-house, feels like being cloned
My beacon's been moved under moon and star
Where am I to go now that I've gone too far?

Soon you will come to...

Oliver Stone's J.F.K. - Is The Truth Out There?

Date of Review:  Nov 6, 2007
The Bottom Line: Oliver Stone brings together the most comprehensive presentation of evidence of a conspiracy in the JFK assassination. It probably won't change any minds, though.
Review: As of late, I've become more and more intrigued with the investigation behind the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Those reasons are largely due to a personal connection I have to the investigation. I like to view various movies and...

JFK: A Criminal Investigation Is Not a Movie.

Date of Review:  May 20, 2000
The Bottom Line: Oliver Stone's flawed but brilliant JFK is an important American film. Whether it eventually stands with Uncle Tom's Cabin or Zola's J'Accuse depends on how we act upon it.
Review: What Assassins did to President John F. Kennedy in about six seconds at Dallas nearly 40 years ago, Director Oliver Stone does in just under seven minutes for his 1991 film JFK, mostly behind the credits. Remarkably, only a half a minute of that...

JFK - Director's Cut DVD. Oliver Stone's look at the mysteries surrounding the assassination of JFK. The courtroom scene is not to be missed, neither is Donald Sutherland's performance as a former Pentagon staffer giving his views of what may have lead to the assassination.
