In addition, its 9mm driver units produce powerful sound for your listening enjoyment. So tune out noise at work, when you travel, or even when you are trying to sleep in a loud environment. The Noise Canceling circuit actually senses outside noise with built-in microphones and sends an equal-but-opposite canceling signal to the headphones. The Noise Canceling on/off switch located on the battery box indicates when Noise Canceling is operating. Additional features include the Fontopia® in-the-ear design, Volume control, and a Miniature connection box for a (AAA) battery. Silence outside sound with Sony.

MDR-EX71SL in Disguise

The Bottom Line: Go for the MDR-EX71SL or MDR-EX51LP.
Review: Adjacent to each 9mm earbud is a tiny microphone. They allegedly determine the trough and crest of the noise present and tell the headphones which frequency to emit. By releasing a sound with the opposite trough and crest, noise-canceling headphones...

The Bottom Line: If I had've paid the full $150, I would be pretty ticked off. Even for $89, they're still overpriced - don't get your hopes up about the noise-cancelling feature.
