Product Description

In the 1990s, following California's passing of the Zero Emission Vehicle mandate, American car companies began producing electric cars for mainstream consumption. GM's EV1, which was by all accounts quiet, fast, and capable of driving up to 80 miles on one charge, used no gasoline and quickly developed an intensely devoted following in California. But even as its popularity grew, car manufacturers were fighting the mandate; it was overturned, and by 2005 just about every single EV1 had been recalled, crushed, and shredded. GM put its resources into the Hummer instead. Ever given an eulogie at an electric cars funeral?

Date of Review:  Jan 21, 2007
The Bottom Line: History this is not, more like it?s only the rocky beginning to a hopefully bright future for the electric car.
Review: Not many can argue against the fact that we do rely too much on oil, and that we are slowly killing our planet with our wasteful and excessive ways. So wouldn t it make sense to come up with alternatives? I mean household recycling has really only...

Hollywood hippies run amok or an actual crafty, car crushing, conspiracy?

Date of Review:  Aug 23, 2007
The Bottom Line: Who Killed The Electric Car is a must see for anyone who is curious about hybrids and electric vehicles.
Review: First, I must admit this movie inspired me to build my own electric car. My bias and knowledge of the subject have influenced my opinion of this movie. To be fair to movie, you must consider it worthy of watching if it has affected so many people...

Who Killed The Electric Car? A Documentary Looking at the History of electric cars

Date of Review:  Dec 8, 2007
The Bottom Line: As far as documentaries go, this one is relatively good, but steers you in a specific direction of thinking while you are watching.
Review: Who Killed The Electric Car? is a documentary about the history of automobiles powered by electricity, and a presentation of theories about why its demise came on so abruptly. The film first starts with a look back on the first electric cars, which...
