Looks nice, but cheaply made

My husband and I received this as a wedding gift from our registry. I was going to use it for the first time today, so I unpacked it and washed it by hand. To my dismay, the plastic handle on the lid completely cracked off the lid while I was drying it with a dish towel. Since it has already broken before I could even use the item to actually cook something, I am rating this slow cooker very low. I have contacted customer service and have yet to hear back from them. I hope they will send a replacement lid free of charge. To say the least, I am very disappointed in this product from a reputable maker.

Update: I got an email reply from customer service:
"Unfortunately, lids and liners are not covered under warranty. Feel free to contact the Rival
sales line at 1-800-557-4825 and we can place an order for a new lid."

After receiving this email, my husband called about the lid and the company is going to send us a brand new crockpot. Lesson learned - exhaust all means of contacting customer service to get results before giving up on them.
