So karaoke games are great but how about living the American Idol experience. Yes that means a karaoke game with a smart talking Brit at the end giving you a critique.
The Idol Encore game comes with a microphone and a variety of songs that will have all players jumping up for a turn. You can sing solo, duet, or go into full competition.
First choose a character that matches your singing style. Much like idols from the past there are funky hairstyles and even funkier outfits. Nothing says idol like a faux-hawk and a kilt. With the voice of Ryan Seacrest introducing you to the stage you are ready to start with the song of your choice.
Songs have a variety of difficulty levels which are marked with music notes showing the difficulty. You can belt out everything from Celine Dion, Aerosmith, and Elton John, to newer hits by Rihanna, The Fray, and James Blunt. Whatever your style whether it is disco, pop, rock, or ballads there is a song that you will want to sing.
If you have two microphones try the duets. Some songs are considered true duets and they are marked by the difficulty level as true duets. Choose your character and then you are singing a duet with another player. Nothing gets a party going like a duet of Bohemian Rhapsody.
If you are a true idol fan than go for the gusto and try to become the next American Idol. In 13 rigorous rounds you will sing from audition to the final two. Each round more players get eliminated. The game has all the anxiety of the real show. Will America shock the viewers and put a great singer in the bottom three?
And as for the judges well what can be said other than wow someone did their homework. Randy is the bomb dawg, Paula sometimes looks confused but is usually the sensitive one of the three, and Simon says it like it is. You are either brilliant or dreadful.
With a large variety of songs and different game plays I highly recommend this game for you karaoke lovers.
FYI this game is not based on singing ability it is based on your ability to keep the arrow on the line (or stay in tune). So even the worst singers have the ability to become stars. If you think this will make you the next American Idol you are wrong but at least you will either be the envy or laughter of your friends.
