Author's Review
My DW got this for me for our first Christmas. I has replaced all other MP3 players that came before it AND it's still hard to beat 3 years later.
Description: It is a small (half a matchbook sized) MP3 player, with an integrated clip to attach to clothing, and the following controls: volume, skip fwd, skip back, on/off, sequential/shuffle playback. It comes packaged with a dock (for sync and recharge) and headphones.
The Good: Excellent battery life, hard-core durability (takes the shock of everyday living) convenient size, shape, and design (it's have an integrated clip!), and clear playback sound. Button layout is logical and easily controlled without having to look at or remove it from your pocket.
The Bad: What song is this? There's no screen. There's not way to tell how much battery life is remaining. There is no way to tell what song you're on, who the artist is, in short there is no screen. It's difficult to select songs to load; rather it prefers you simply random load it. You can design playlists from which it can choose, but the selection of actual tracks is random. If you do chose to load, you may not be able to find and play them back if you've chosen shuffle on the unit to playback. You can skip tracks, but you cannot fast forward through parts of a track.
The Ugly: Wow! It was pricey when it first came out. Competing MP3 Players (at the time) were nearly half its price for the same amount of MP3 storage. (Fortunately the price has come down.) How do you charge this thing? You'll have to have it attached to your computer's USB port; which you'll have to have on while it charges. Or, you can purchase a wall socket USB charger.
