Beautiful screen and styling
Date of Review: Jul 1, 2009
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a stylish multi-purpose device with a generous large screen, the iPod iTouch is for you.
We wanted a portable device that we can view video, listen to music, play games and surf the internet. The Nokia internet tablets and Sony PSP have been considered but the tablet is too big for the pocket and the PSP is too 'gamey' looking so we got the Apple iPod touch with 32 Gigabytes instead.
This device is simply gorgeous, the user interface is very unique, a panel of tiles/icons sits at the menu and touching and swipeing your finger across the touch screen provides the navigation. This interface is like nothing else, definitely awesome.
The dimensions of the device is ideal, it fits right into your pocket like a 2nd phone. The screen is one of the largest you can get on the market today and the colors are very vibrant and crisp. I do wish the back is color changable so we can swap colors depending on our mood.
The movies and player (itunes) is flawless and delivers uninterrupted streaming of movies and music. More music titles may be purchased on the itunes store although you would need a special software and a subscription to download/purchase.
The Wifi is good but we have not figured out how to access WEP/security enabled networks yet. For unsecured wifi networks, it loads and renders the pages smoothly. The synchronization with my desktop took sometime to adjust to but once my PC found the device, itunes managed the rest. Battery usage was reasonable, we watch movies alot and had to charge ours every other day or so.
My only complaint is minor and only if you text alot. The keyboard is onscreen and not very usable for fast thumbing, then again why would you use the iPod touch to text and email? You should be enjoying the music and movies!
