Author's Review
My dad has a subscription to Auto Week and I read his old issues. This magazine provides good weekly coverage of CART, Formula 1, NASCAR, and other racing organizations as well as reviews and test drives of new cars, event coverage of nostalgia racing and classic car shows, and a lot of upcoming-products/spy-report coverage of the world's major manufacturers. The back has ads where you can purchase things like retired race cars, high-dollar European supercars and classic show vehicles. There are no technical or how-to articles, there are readers' letters, and the back page is full of humorous quotes, photos, and anecdotes. If you want to see the politics and personalities behind some of the most expensive racing in the world, this is a good place to look. This magazine isn't for the home hobbiest or muscle-car enthusiast; most of the vehicles in here are way beyond most people's price range, including mine. The articles are well-written and interesting, though, and it does give you a different perspective from that found in most car magazines you see on the rack at the stores. This one won't tell you anything about choosing an Edelbrock or a Holley for your Chevy 350, but it will keep you well-informed of personality clashes and points standings among the world's top drivers.
