This game by Infinite Monkey is one of the best baseball sims on the market. Some people like to play the game. Some like to be a manager. Some like to be the general manager. That's the difference between games like the Triple Play series and this one. You make managerial decisions which will effect your ballclub.
First off, you take a franchise. You can move the franchise to another city and even change the name. Then you arrange ticket and concession prices to build up your income. This game has a real financial model. This is how you sign free agents. You have to put people in the seats in order to sign big money players.
You create lineups. There are full minor league players in this game, so feel free to bring them up if someone is hitting .200 or has a 6.00 era. You can either simulate the game or play it out, pitch by pitch. For the hardcore fan who likes to make the little decisions, use the pitch-by-pitch feature.
One pet peeve of all sports games in the past was when you finished a season, you had to restart it. There was no continuation. With sports game today, there usually is a career mode of some sorts. With this in mind, you can play Baseball Mogul forever. Those minor league stats mean a lot.
Baseball Mogul keeps track of every players stats throughout the years and even has intelligent scouting reports. Also, the computer teams offer you realistic trades. Don't try to steal a player from another team by throwing in three utility players for a superstar. The computer AI is very smart, which is vital for a games' success.
