Author's Review

I am not one who likes reality tv in the least. However there are a couple of programs that really caught my attention because one pertains to a struggle I have myself weight. A good portion of America is over weight either because they have gotten out of control or because of things that they can not control. This book brings the new jaunra of reality tv and gives it a twist that most people would not think of.

Kat Larson decided to do something out of the norm and apply for the new reality show Fat To Fabulous after her best friend Donna showed her an article in the paper. Kat never actually thought she would get called to audition let alone get on the show, but that is what happened. She was in Los Angeles and on a reality show and working to loose the weight not only for herself, but with the possibility of being a completely new person. She also has the hopes of meeting the man of her dreams Nick in person. She met Nick six months earlier online and with him living in London and working on the magazine Status they have never had the chance to meet and Kat doesn't want to until she has managed to loose the weight.

Nick thinks that Kat is a size 4 not a size 18. So when it comes to time for the challenges Kat does what she needs to do to get through them until Zaidee throws her for a complete curve and brings Nick on the show. Now Kat has to try and fix the mess she started. Will Kat get what she wants in the end?

Johanna Edwards addresses a subject that most authors would not touch plus sized women. Her main character Kat Larsen is a plus sized girl who wants to be someone other than who she is. She thinks that loosing the wight is all it will take to be whole. However she learns when you make yourself out to be something you aren't all it does is hurt you. She starts out a bit naive and resentful and grows up becoming happy with herself even if things have not/do not work as she hoped.

The characters are colorful and entertaining. You have exactly the type of characters in this book that you would see on a reality tv show: the brat, the chauvinist, the sweet innocent one, the athlete, an older person, and the wanna be goddess. This novel brings new light and laughter to a subject most people snub obesity and that one could find true love and a sense of ones self along the way.

As a plus sized girl myself it was nice to read this and be able to empathize with the struggles just like the main character from clothes shopping to how society looks at being overweight. This book does not tend to run amuck or jump back and forth like some do it stays straight on line and is easy to follow along with. I highly recommend this book for its honest out look on such issues as obesity and colorful entertaining characters.
