Product Review

Chevy's baby beatle

by   shatterblu ,   Dec 21, 2004

Pros:  Most everything

Cons:  Shifter function and sun-visors

The Bottom Line:  If you want a good sub-compact this rebadged Daewoo is it.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I love this little car the exterior wasn't that attractive at first but after a few seconds of looking at it, it's nice looking considering its only competition is the rare and sub-standard Toyota echo. It has tiny 14' Alloy wheels that look nice, to me any way, but regardless of their size it handles great has a smooth ride, the steering is a little tight though. Inside the interior is huge for such a little car and I'm saying this having my last car being an 87' custom cruiser wagon, the dash looks like a beetles and the seats set well. The ride height is nice but visibility is hindered by the large A and C pillars. The gear shift is cool looking for a small car but it needs a button, the push down to shift feature would only be good with a straight shifter not a wiggle worm design. The interior materials are good for a Chevy except for the sun-visors, they are wrapped in some kinda cheap plastic table cloth like material but who cares there sun-visors. The power is questionable, if you watch the speed the car is pretty dang zippy but if you don't you'll make the engine whine loudly and end up going to fast. All together I like my Aveo it's my first new car and my first car with a decent stereo, it has a quirky bunch of features like a glasses holder over the driver’s door and carbon fiber door pulls and a fold down rear seat. I may be partial to mine because it's a loaded LT (if an Aveo can be loaded) but in my opinion with it’s interior design and exterior roundness it’s Chevy’s Korean built European designed sub-compact beatle.
