Author's Review
When my Logitech speakers suddenly decided to call it quits I began scouring online websites (even Ebay) for new computer speakers.
I wanted to spend less than $100.
I wanted didn't want to have to put more than 2 speakers and subwoofer on my desk.
The sound had to be great.
I had to be able to get it loud, but not annoy-the-neighbors loud.
I wanted to be able to adjust the volume of subwoofer (base.)
Other than that I wasn't going to be picky! :)
After surfing the web for hours, I discovered that quite a few people were very happy with their Creative Labs speakers, so I went to Best Buy looking for some.
THE SET UP
I brought them home and within 10 minutes I had them hooked up. (The hardest part is unwrapping every single bag and un-doing every twist tie.)
I was impressed.
THE SOUND
The sound was loud, but not "hip-hop BOOM BOOM-hey Mom look at me!" loud. I have a 250 sq. ft room and it FILLS the room with sound. I played a rock CD and a classical guitar CD. The sound is very clear and bright. I was happy with how it picked up the mids and lows for a full sound. The base could be adjusted to really thumping, to barely noticeable.
THE SIZE & LOOK
The only drawback was that the subwoofer is quite large (9" deep by 7" wide), but I guess that is why it has better sound then the Logitechs. The base will distort at very high levels and it will also vibrate your desk if you max it out.
The speakers have a very cool silver and black "space-age" design and they don't hiss or distort. They are prone to fall over a bit too easily in my opinion, but it's not like you just breathe on them and they fall over. They just need to be on a totally level surface away from kids, pets, and strong breezes. :)
BOTTOM LINE
Look, I am not techie-computer expert, but I am a total music lover and these speakers will make your tunes and gaming sound great. I know there are probably better speakers out there if you want to spend hundreds or thousands, but this product does the trick for about $75. You will not be disappointed.
