IT WILL STILL BE AROUND AFTER I'M GONE!

I purchased my DLC-X in January, 1983, and ever since, it has been the only machine I use to knead dough. It is faster and more thorough than even my Kenwood Major mixer. The dough mixing technique allows you to see when you've just added enough liquids and flour to form a non-stick ball in the container. You will immediately know when you no longer need to continue to add ingredients. The friction made inside the bowl while it is kneading warms the dough just enough to activate the yeast perfectly! It's weighty, but that just adds to it's stability when handling tasks which would make most machines "walk" off of the counter and onto the floor.

I had wanted a Cuisinart Food Processor since I became familiar with the machines in the 1970's, but I did not care for the fact that you had to control the chopping mechanism by sliding the entire lid back & forth. I never bought one until pushbuttons were an option!

When I got it, it received frequent use, but now I'm older and don't do nearly as much cooking, but this machine has never given me a minutes' worry. I have replaced the workbowl and feedtube, but as they are plastic and dishwasher safe (making clean-up a breeze), it is expected that they would need replacing at some point.


All said, I still feel this is one of the better investments in my kitchen I have ever made. My downfall was spending hundreds of extra dollars on all of the extra blades available for it, most of which I've never used. The basic blades that come standard with the machine are probably all that most users will require.
