Author's Review
After looking at Consumer Reports and online reviews, I settled on model DU1100XTP. (Based on online reports, I avoided the DU1045XTP and DU1048XTP models because there seemed to be more complaints about those particular models than the 1100, even though Consumer Reports lumps them all together under one heading. It is my understanding that these models are special numbers made for Lowe's and Best Buy, respectively, and are supposed to be comparable to the DU1100.) So far we have had it for about 4 months and it works wonderfully! We have had no problems with it, it cleans excellently, and it's much quieter than our last dishwasher. It's very easy to load. We don't run the dishwasher after every meal, so sometimes we rinse the dishes before putting them in if we know they're going to sit there for a few days. I have also tried the "soak and scour" option without rinsing the dishes, and that seems to do a good job, too. I have had no trouble cleaning utensils, tupperware, plastic cutting boards, dishes or glasses. I don't use the heat rise; I just open the door and let it air dry and everything dries within an hour except the tupperware. I spent a lot of time researching what dishwasher to purchase, and I have been perfectly happy with this model. Incidentally, my husband and I even installed the dishwasher ourselves, and it was not too difficult given the fact that we had never done this before.
