Very tasty, refreshing, and fun to drink
Pros:
Great, sweet taste of sour apple, great to make mix drinks with.
Cons:
Alcohol content might be weak for some, at 30 proof.
The Bottom Line:
Anyone who's a fan of green apples would really enjoy this. It's fun to serve as a mix drink, with a candy like taste of a Jolly Rancher.

Author's Review
Usually, when I drink alcoholic beverages I stick with beer. Rare times, however, I like to go with something different, mainly with a fruity side to it. When I do, I go with mix drinks that have a berry and apple flavor. There are different companies with their share of flavored mixes and drinks out on the market and I've tried a good bit of them. Overall when it comes down to it, I've always went back to the well known brand of Dekuyper Schnapps.
Dekuyper Schnapps is one of the biggest brands, especially when it comes to their great variety of pucker flavors. Among these tasty drinks is the sweet and sour apple pucker. This is usually the one I go with when I'm in the mode for a shot or mix drink. I've always been a fan of green apple and since coming across this great and refreshing treat, I find myself sticking with it much more over any other kind of schnapps or any kind of drinks and shots for that matter.
Dekuyper's Sour Apple Pucker Schnapps, when having it mixed in another drink like Sprite or Vodka, has a sweet and sour taste of green apple that is not overpowering to the drink you mix it with unless if you pour too much. It's not that strong at all taste wise and has a great Jolly Rancher candy flavor going on. The alcohol doesn't take over the sweet and sour apple taste like some other's might do. The blend of green apple and alcohol is well balanced and refreshing.
Having it as a shot gives you a much stronger hit of apple flavor, especially the sour side. It's very sweet with a really good hit of sourness, but it's not overly sweet. You definitely taste the alcohol portion more this way, yet it's not overpowering. When I take shots, I like to go with something that has a very good flavor and this is definitely one of the main ones, if not the one, that I go for. I'm not as big of a fan when it comes to the alcohol content like others might go for, it's more about the taste for me.
The best way to drink this apple pucker, whether as a shot or as a mixed drink, is by having served very cold. If it's even a little warm, you'll get a stronger taste of alcohol and it just somewhat ruins it, at least to me it does. Let the bottle chill in the fridge for a very good while and don't pull it out unless if you're going to have any right then and there. When I go to a bar or club, it's usually sitting out, not cold and has a warm, not so grand taste. If you get it as a mixed drink like with Sprite, make sure you get a decent portion of ice. Shot wise, I'd prefer buying my own bottle and chilling it myself.
The alcohol content is at a decent, somewhat light 30 proof. It might be a bit weak for some if you drink it mixed with another beverage. Shot wise, I think it's at a okay level, unless if you are the type that likes to get toasted, then you might need a little more. Being that the content is where it is, you get a better sense and taste of the green apple flavor which is what I go for. There isn't anything over done about the alcohol part. It's just about right to me.
Dekuyper's Sour Apple Schnapps is available at most stores around my area of New Orleans. However, not all stores carry the different sizes it's made in. From what I've come across, it's available in 375 ml, 750ml (both of these I came across in Florida and rarely some small stores in my area), 1 liter, and 1.5 liter (these are what I've found around me). I noticed the grocery stores tend to be the best places to pick this up, especially the bigger bottles. I'd suggest to go with the larger if you're going to mix it with something else or have a get together with some people. Plus, if you drink it often, you'll do a little better in the long haul money wise.
Pricing for this can range some, but not much. The 1 to 1.5 liter bottles go between $9.49 to $15.49, while the smaller 375 and 750 ml sizes go from $4.59 to $7.49. Of course, this is what I found. It's not too bad, although the other rival brands can go for a slightly cheaper price. However, if you want to go with the best taste and quality, I'd recommend going with Dekuyper.
In conclusion, I'd highly recommend going with Dekuyper's Sour Apple Pucker Schnapps and even their other great flavors for that matter. If you're a fan of sour green apple like I am, you would like this. It goes with a number of beverages as a great mix drink and is a very good choice to go with as a shot by itself. To me, I think the alcohol level is at a decent amount, but others may agree that it could use a little more. It's a great tasting schnapps that isn't over done by the alcohol and has an amazing balance of the sweet and sour side of the green apple flavor. I think it would be a fun and refreshing addition to any party or gathering, whether being a shot or mix drink. I'm pretty sure that most people who haven't tried this would really enjoy this once they have tasted it and may even make it their main choice of alcoholic beverage.
