Author's Review
This review is part of the Roadiem write-off. I am not the best writer, when it comes to cars, but I will try my best for Mike Lambert.(Roadiem) I put him on my trust list after reading a few of his reviews and I did e-mail him about the suspension on my Dodge Shadow, which he promptly answered. Now what will we do without him? He is probably watching us from above and enjoying how much we care about him!
On a recent trip to central Florida, we were privileged to rent a Plymouth Neon for a week. What can I say I LOVED IT!
It had a very roomy, comfortable interior. Larger than my Dodge Shadow, which is the Neon's predecessor. It can hold 5 people and the trunk is huge. It measures at 13.1 cubic feet and has a bright trunk light. There is an optional remote power trunk lid release. The sound system has six speakers and available is an in-dash four-disc CD changer. The contoured front seats have added lumbar support. Map pockets in the front doors and large cup holders make a really convenient set-up. The dome light dims gradually, after you start the engine, which I especially liked. Another great option, for those people that live where the winters include ice and snow, are heated side-mirrors!
As far as safety goes, except for side air bags being optional on the LX model, you couldn't ask for more. Front air bags are standard, as are safety beams in the front and rear doors and a full beam in the door sills to help protect passengers in a side-impact collision. Available is a Vehicle Security System with a panic button on the key ring, to help you feel safe, when you walk to your car in the dark.
This car runs so quietly that I thought I wasn't going fast enough on the expressway and when I looked at the speedometer I was going 60 mph!
The Plymouth Neon has a 2.0-liter, four-cyclinder SOHC 16 valve engine that cranks out 132 horsepower at 5,600 rpm.
All in all, I highly recommend the Neon for anyone looking for a great compact car. You won't be disappointed!
