Product Review

Great for home use in my basement (low light)

by   rfarmer ,   Dec 15, 2004

Pros:  Great 100" image from my inexpensive progressive-scan DVD.

Cons:  $3000 is still a lot on money for a luxury item.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I bought this projector to display DVD's from my $69 Walmart progressive scan DVD play. I project onto a contractor-white painted sheetrock wall in my finished basement and create a 100" diagonal picture (8 feet wide by 5 feet high). For now, I just have the projector on a table, but I will mount it from my drop ceiling and paint a screen on the wall using "Goo System's CRT White" in the future.

From my low-end DVD player I am very with the result. However, plan-old-TV using the analog cable TV output from my cable company fed from the video-out of my VCR is not so great. This is not a fault of the projector-- it highlights my need to get HDTV from a cable or satellite company.

This was the 3rd sub $3000 projector I have tried over the past 2 years but the first my wife has let me keep. My wife is picky, so passing the "wife satisfaction test" is a great indicator of quality.
