When Security Matters

The Fellows DS-1, when compared to other shredders I have had over the years comes out on top. There are many shredders on the market that are two-piece units.

Two piece units are basically a shredder head that sits on the container in which the shredded paper falls into. When it comes time to empty the container, you have to lift the shredder head off the waste container with hopes of not showering the floor with material that comes loose from the teeth.

The Fellows DS-1 is a one-piece unit with a center aluminum mesh waste basket that for removal requires you to simply step onto the small exterior lip which then tilts the basket out and away from the shredder. The 5-gallon capacity waste basket is easy to move and hold during the process. You have little or no waste getting outside of the basket onto the floor.

There are numerous safety features including a sensor to detect a hand or finger getting too close to the business end of the machine. When such action is detected it will automatically power down.

The Fellows DS-1 can shred up to 12 sheets of paper at a time and it will shred DVD/CD's too along with credit cards. Small yet compact, it is perfect for the home or small home office. For those in larger office environments it is perfect to serve as "zone" shredder for those who may work in cubicle groups.

The end product of destruction is very mangled and distorted so it would be literally impossible for the average scam artist or identity thief to put your bank statements or other sensitive material back into readable form.

Downside of the machine is the slightly loud motor, but since it works so quickly, I do not believe that will be an issue for many people.
