Author's Review
I always favored Fender acoustics, since I owned my first one as a kid. Something about the legendary sound that cannot be reproduced in any other copy or line. SO when I played a few hundred Fenders in all the stores, I settled on this one for my older son, who is outgrowing and outperforming his beginner acoustic. It played just as good as the ones twice the price, and not as nice as this one. It was a spontaneous buy, I admit, one I am glad I made.
This Fender guitar shows off its bright, crisp, hardened, smooth classic Fender sound I was looking for, but I was also drawn in by the a natural color finish of this one, it was polished to be a super shiny and glossy. A truly beautiful finish is on the body and headstock. Some of the other Fenders I have seen were not cosmetically clean and neat, some were quite unbalanced. For a guitar made in China, I cannot complain. Nice satin sticky fender feeling neck on the back, and super smooth action and good playability, especially for smaller hands. The store had it set up perfectly, no need for ANY intonation or other adjustments. A spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and a nice single cutaway round this off rather nice. I was also floored by the Fishman piezo pickup and a three band equalizer, brilliance control and master volume. And It also has a built in tuner, a BIG help for beginning guitarists. The Fishman has a pre-amp and the controls are smooth as silk, quiet and on the money. When plugged in, it sounds simply beautiful. I am sure it is not a higher end Fishman unit, but it definitely does the job quite well. The price was right, I got it for a touch over three hundred, and I got a nice hardshell case thrown into the mix. You really cant lose with a Fender CD140SCE. The workmanship and sound is superb.
