Undoubtedly the best bass I have played with!
Pros:
excellent sound quality, easy to play with
Cons:
extremely expensive for a bass guitar!
The Bottom Line:
The word "Fender" already makes this sound like an extremely nice bass guitar.

Author's Review
I have played with many bass guitars throughout this past year, but I do not think any of these basses are as good as the Fender American Standard Jazz Bass. I have played with Squier basses (dislike the sound quality), Yamaha basses (produces a very rock-like sound), Rickenbacker basses (the one I used had the strings to high up from the frets), but none of them are close to reaching the greatness this bass guitar presents.
One of the pros of this guitar is its pickups. This picks up literally everything that you do with a string (and do I mean LITERALLY!). If you touch any fret, the pickups will pick up where the finger touches the string. Wait until what you'll hear when you play with it.
This leads onto my next point: sound quality. The sound quality of this is AMAZING! Unlike other basses, this does not actually have an "electric/rock and roll" sound that most basses possess. Instead, this sounds more like an electric double bass, creating a very mellow, but pleasant sounds, which sounds better than the quality heard from some Fender Stratocasters.
Its also incredibly easy to play with. I can easily pick it up and play anything I feel. I play with both a pick and with my fingers and I feel comfortable with either of them when I use this bass. Its also probably the best bass to use in gigs, because the sound of the bass really comes out and helps compliment guitars during songs, making the songs sound complete.
The only problem is the price. This bass is EXTREMELY expensive (and boy do I mean EXPENSIVE!). But hey, this is a Fender American Standard Jazz Bass and that's what you'd expect from a bass guitar as good as this one.
I'd recommend it to all the good bass players out there, and to repeat what I've said earlier, THE BEST bass out there!
