Definetly one of her best albums ever.
Pros:
Over all an awesome cd. Very well written.
Cons:
It's all in spanish, some German and French. Not really a con.
The Bottom Line:
Go get it and see for yourself

Author's Review
Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was born in Columbia on February 2nd of 1977. I have been listening to her since her release of her 3rd studio album, PIES DESCALZOS (Bare Feet), back in 1995. This is the album that skyrocketed her carrier as a Latin sensation. She later crossed over as an English pop star in 2001. One might know her for her hits Estoy Aqui", "Ciega Sordomuda", "Ojos Asi", "Whenever, Wherever", "Underneath Your Clothes", "La Tortura", and "Hips Don't Lie"
Fijacion Oral Vol. 1 is definitely one of Shakira's better Cd's. Normally Shakira's cd's only have one or 2 good songs on the disc but this one you love every song! I know some people say that she sounds like a goat about to give birth to something fierce but who are we to criticize her? I mean the girl does have talent; otherwise she would not be where she is today. Ok, maybe it's her hips and her provacative belly dancing (a part of her Lebanese heritage)moves that say it all but her voice is unique and I think that is what most attracts me to her. You can be in a car and can distinguish her from all other singers because that voice believe it or not is her trade mark. I'm a singer and my goodness; she can do some pretty vocally challenging things.
The cd consists of 12 songs which I will translate for you:
1. En Tus Pupilas (In Your Pupils)
This disc begins with a ballad that has one estrofa
(a phrase in French. It is a song that made me float
up into the clouds because of its dreamy feel.
2. La Pared (The Wall)
This is a song that would not make much sense in English
but is very powerful in Spanish. Shakira sings it with
a lot of passion. She sings about a Wall that is between
her and her love.
3. La Tortura (the torture)
I'm pretty sure most have heard this song. My Goodness
it's over played. Shakira and Alejandro sanz did a magni
cent job with this. The sound is awesome. It's about
losing a your love to someone else and how it tortures
you.
4. Obtener Un Si (to obtain yes)
This song was classically and beautifully written. It is
so romantic and the music takes you back to the late 50'
s and into the 60's sound. I love it. Great couples song
5. Dia Especial (Special Day)
Magnificent! A hopeful song for couples to forgive and
forget. Very artsy.
6. Escondite Ingles (English hiding place)
A little punk. I like!
7. No (NO...Ha!)
One of my most favorite ballads of Shakira. Musically
fulfilling.
8. Las De La Intuicion ( Those of the Intuition)
The best one of the disc in my opinion. I love dancing
this song. Has a rare sound.
9. Dia De Enero (Day of January)
This is the most intimate song on the cd.
10. Lo Imprescindible (The Essential thing)
Shakira sings one estrofa in German!! My husband speak
s German so I've learned to understand it. Probably
my least favorite song, but it's still catchy.
11. La Pared (Version Acustica)
Just a remix....I love it!!!
12. La Tortura (Shaketon Remix)
Not as good as the original.
Shakira proves thru this album that she is extremely artistic both musically and vocally. Her music just makes you want to dance. My favorites of course are La Tortura and Las De La Intuicion on the album. The passion that she puts into these songs is chilling, you can feel it. She brings out the deeper side of her soul especially with the song "No". All her songs are very musically fulfilling. With every brand new album she just keeps on impressing me and of course all the other hundreds of thousands of fans. GO SHAKIRA. Keep up the good work.
