Product Review

Engineering Excellence and Miles of Style!

by   dragonlady762 ,   Jul 25, 2008

Pros:  FAST, Maneuverable, Perfectly Engineered, Beautiful, Unique and rapid change to hard top.

Cons:  Hard top is heavy and needs 2 people or a ceiling device to change.

The Bottom Line:  If you get the chance - BUY this car. You will never regret it. Remember, it's a 2 seater meant for 1 driver.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I purchased my 2004 Merlot Collectible T-Bird in October 2003 for around $40k. When you get in the car the steering wheel comes to you and you will notice the speedometer goes from 0 to 160 mph. Cute marketing until you realize that so does the car! This is the most perfectly engineered car I have ever had the pleasure of driving. It fits like a glove, it shifts when it's supposed to, it hugs a curve at 105 mph and asks for more. It likes to go fast so Ford included cruise control for those of us who can't or won't watch the speedometer.

It's 3.9L engine is literally the same engine that is in my 1995 Lincoln Mark VIII - another screamin' car. I bought the car for its collectibility. I drive the car for the pure pleasure of driving a great piece of machinery.

I love the speed that the convertible top raises and lowers - 6 seconds at most. I can drive with the top down until the sprinkles start and have the top up before the next raindrop falls.

If I had to pick something to hate about this car it would be its comfort level on long trips with another person in the car. When it's just me and the dog all is well but add another person and it gets a little close in about 3 hours.

I wish everyone had the opportunity to drive this car at least once. It changes the standards by which you will judge all other cars.
