Author's Review
After 28 years of two cycles on my Kenmore workhorse of a washer, I decided to go for a racehorse. The Frigidaire Affinity 7000 series was delivered to my house, and I haven't regretted a single instant of the purchase.
I read that the washer has to be super-level in order for it to work. The installers used a level and spent all of two minutes double-checking it to make sure it was level, despite my voiced concerns. After they left, when I had the first load in it, I crossed my fingers and hoped that they had done their job of making sure the machine was level. First load: fine. But it was T-shirts. The second through fifteenth loads: fine. The big question came when I put the down comforter in it to wash. The Affinity didn't blink.
Water consumption: I can't believe how little water is used and how clean my clothing and linens are! After years and years of a top-loader using tons of water, I will anticipate a 25% reduction in usage of water. It just can't be possible, but the clothes are way cleaner than my top-loader ever gave me. It sips water.
Spin: the spin cycle gets items very dry. I wear Barely There panties (a big seller, judging by the places where I see 'em sold), and they come out of the washer almost wearably dry. Ten minutes to air dry, and they're ready to fold and put away. And there aren't wrinkles from the ultra-fast spinner, because the machine tumbles the items back and forth after the spin, to loosen them up.
Quiet: I live in a small condo. I have always been able to feel the condo "vibrate" or "hum" when the old Kenmore was working. I sat and read in my living room, and the only indication that I got that the washer was even on was the turning on and off of the water supply. When you are next to the running washer, you have to look through the window to see your items tumbling. Talk about quiet!
