Author's Review
I purchased this machine at the end of February and it was delivered on March 8, 2007. On April 5 the inflow valve stuck and it flooded my laundry room, came down through the floor into the ceiling in the kitchen and was dripping on my brand new laminate floors. It was Easter weekend and to say the least, I was not happy. Home Depot did bring me a brand new machine on April 9 and I loved it until July 21. I won't go into all the details here but suffice it to say that Home Depot can't help you after you've had the appliance for more than 30 days and GE won't help you at all. It is now August 31, the repairman has been here 5 times, I've talked to GE customer service 8 times, I've spent $132 at the laundromat, it's Labor Day weekend, I have 2 kids bringing home laundry from college, and I STILL don't have a working washing machine in my house. GE at one point offered me $25 OR a 3 month extension on my warranty for my time and trouble.
Moral of the story....NEVER buy from GE. They do not stand behind their products and if I got TWO defective machines, there's a good chance YOURS will be too!
UPDATE:
To follow up on my washing machine saga...On September 14 they determined that my washing machine was unfixable and they would have to replace it. I asked repeatedly for a refund but was told I had 3 options. 1)A replacement of the same machine I had 2)Give them more money for an upgraded front load machine 3)Find on their website another machine of comparable price. Since I'd already had 2 of this particular model that had failed I did not want another. I was determined that GE wasn't getting another penny of my money so I found another machine on their website. This is a higher end top load machine than I would ever have bought myself. I really wanted a front loading machine but since I got the cheapest one GE had, that was not an option. It was installed 10 days later and I haven't had any problems. I never again heard from GE, however, even after writing them and telling of the problems I had with their product and company.
