Graco Platinum CarGo 8489 Booster Seat - My kid prefers Platinum!

Date of Review:  Dec 29, 2003
The Bottom Line: A safe, comfortable, affordable and attractive booster seat!
Review: We recently replaced our primary carseat, a Britax Expressway with the Graco Platinum CarGo 8489 Booster Seat. Though my 3 year old son was still within the acceptable range for the expressway (he is 34 pounds and the seat goes to 40 pounds),...

Everything you want in a carseat and more...

Date of Review:  Jul 27, 2003
The Bottom Line: This is an great-looking, easy to use carseat with lots of offer for the price.
Review: We needed a new carseat for my 2 year old, since her little sister would be moving out of the carrier carseat and into her FP SafeEmbrace. We wanted something that will convert into a booster seat and will hopefully be the last carseat we buy for...

Road trip approved

Date of Review:  Jul 13, 2004
The Bottom Line: It's a great seat for the money. Safe, and the straps don't twist, great padding. Not loving the blue fabric.
Review: First I should disclose that I am a kids products snob. I loved the Britax Roundabout (in cow-moo-flage!) but my girl outgrew that thing like it was going out of style. (uh..nevermind) So when her head was a good 2 inches over the top of the thing,...

If safety is first, buy a Britax

Date of Review:  Apr 4, 2006
The Bottom Line: I know the police ONLY recommend this one as a booster with harness, but I'd rather buy a Britax convertible and eat the cost.
Review: We were in a quandary: my 7 month old daughter was too big for her infant car seat and ready to move into a convertible, but should we buy a second Britax or move my son into a booster? The problem was, my 3 1/2 year old son is small -- he's only 27...

Platinum CarGo Doesn't Seem Very Safe

Date of Review:  Feb 11, 2005
The Bottom Line: This seat may be great when used as a car seat but does NOT seem safe when used as a booster seat.
Review: We purchased this car seat/booster combo because our youngest daughter is about to graduate from her carrier to the convertible car seat. So we were forced to purchase an alternate car seat for our oldest daughter. She is only 5-6 lbs from the 40 lb...

Watch those straps

Date of Review:  Jun 17, 2004
Review: Check your shoulder straps to make sure they do not pull out when they are supposedly tight. We have two of the CarGo booster seats, both have a problem that when the shoulder straps are pulled on, they loosen, even if they were pulled tight with...

Perfect for travel and as a second carseat

Date of Review:  Aug 21, 2007
The Bottom Line: Great option especially if you're looking for a second / backup / travel carseat.
Review: Very lightweight, easy to latch in to a car or strap into an airline seat. Grows with the child -- we purchased this when my daughter was 18 months old, and she will be using it for many years to come (it will soon be her primary carseat as her...

seat belt holders are glued on and fall off

Date of Review:  Nov 30, 2007
The Bottom Line: It's alright for a toddler, but it may not last to be a booster, and the strength and design of the seat belt holders make it unsuitable as a booster.
Review: I bought two of these seats for my sons and they began riding in them when they were each about one. I moved them straight from their infant seat and I chose this one because the front button adjust for the shoulder straps make it quick to lengthen...

Love this seat!

Date of Review:  Sep 30, 2003
The Bottom Line: This is a great seat all around! With lots of extra features that can be removed when not needed.
Review: After having the Cosco summit high back booster i was terribly disapointed in booster seats! But i needed to buy a new booster for my 2.5 year old because the Cosco one was so crappy! Every time she fell asleep her head would fall into her lap and...
