ADF PROBLEMS ESPECIALLY WITH DUPLEX

by   esruncomputer ,   Nov 14, 2007

Pros:  Excellent scan quality for photo, or document. Excellent software and scanning capabilities.

Cons:  ADF jams which can be avoided with precautions, more frequent when using the "duplex feature."

The Bottom Line:  Great quality for the lower cost.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I have personally used the HP Scanjet 8250 for about nine months now. Overall it is a nice unit, but it is not without its' flaws. The most prominant problem is with the ADF, especially in the "duplex mode." The scanner will perform duplex scans, but there are frequent jams in the process. Duplex scanning is a complicated process for any scanner, or printer. The size of this scanner does not constitute the machinary necessary to perform this task flawlessly. I am sure that many of you have owned "duplexing" printers as well and have found them to be frustrating. When using the ADF without the duplex feature engaged, the Scanjet 8250-8290 performs well. The operator still needs to be cautious to use heavier weight paper. Also the scanned media needs to be intact without wrinkles, crumples, heavier weight, have no stapes, no punctures in the paper, or anything else to impair the paper feed. It is very difficult to find any scanner priced under $1000 that has a "flawless ADF" and especially with a "duplexing feature." Overall, it is a great scanner for professional use. The only drawback is to use caution with the ADF media and especially when using the duplexing feature.
