Forgotten gem of a game

The Bottom Line: A good flight simulator coupled with an excellent damage model and graphics
Review: This is the updated IL2 Sturmovik game by Maddox Games and distributed by Ubisoft. The game is designed around the Russian fighter-bomber of the title, which mimics a realistic flight model in a World War 2 environment.

One of better WW II simulations

The Bottom Line: In WW II air support was important part of frontline. Protect your units by blowing enemies up and bringing bombers down. Great simulation, with highly detailed gameplay.
Review: IL2 is one of better air combat simulations. It has highly realistic level of flying. Depends if you play on easy, medium and hard. On easy you turn off things as turbulence, or engine overheats, or limited ammo, but on hard level you experience...

A pilot's dream.

The Bottom Line: Too good for the price paid. Try the demo (146MB download).
Review: This game came out in 2001, and I just bought it in July 2003 for $8.00 on ebay.
There is a newer version: Forgotten battles, with a little better graphics, and more planes to fly, but it's at least twice as expensive.

Not for beginners

The Bottom Line: This game has a very steep learning curve, therefore it is only recommended for the serious of heart.

The best flight sim, bar none

The Bottom Line: The best flight sim ever made (with exception to it's sequal, Forgotten Battles) Anyone who says CFS3 is better is mistaken.
