I am on my second G35 Coupe. On my first coupe, I had an Alpine 1000.1 monoblock amp running two Crossfire 10s, plus a Crossfire 100x4 running the highs, and an old Alpine EQ.
For my second go-around, I decided to try and simplify the system a bit and downsize a little. One JL 10"w3, an Audiocontrol EQS, and the JL 500/5.
Despite being used to the thump of the 1000W system, the 250W subwoofer output of the JL 500/5 delivers pleasing, solid power. The controls on the amp give plenty of options for crossover adjustment and bass enhancement.
The 100x2 front channel output is great. That allows you to cleanly use lower crossover levels and still enjoy crisp, clear loud music. It's surely an area many "all in one" type amps will try and skimp out on.
I will say the 25W rear output seems a tad too weak. I had to reduce my rear speakers to a level that's less than ideal or else the amp would cut out. I may try a higher crossover frequency. This amp's wattage distribution might be problematic for some cars that really need the rear speakers to perform midbass. Fortunately my fronts do pretty well, and the trunk configuration of the G35 is very good about passing bass to the front. 40W or better would have helped a lot here.
My only other gripe about this amp is there are not enough mounting points. The amp is almost as long as entire rear seat opening on my car. Yet, there are only 4 mounting points. A couple more in the center would have helped distribute the weight. If mounted to a rear seat that opens, it may need to wistand some force when the seat is closed. The screws that hold the amp in place need to have a very tight grip.
