Not only a good Theme Park game but a good Jurassic Park Game as well.
Date of Review: May 5, 2003
The Bottom Line: It is one of the few games where teams of developers actualy thought up new things that would add to an old format.
First off let me just say that the Jurassic Park franchise has been milked far to much in the years following the release of the original Jurassic Park. Companies have been throwing together movies and games, knowing that consumers will keep coming back in hopes of another great J.P. experience. Well at last we are rewarded.
Jurassic Park Project Genesis is the best theme park game to have come along so far. In stead of just researching new rides like the other theme park games, J.P.P.G. has raised the bar by allowing you to oversee the dig sites, and reloacate teams of archeologists who will find bones that can be sold or used to research DNA of dinosaurs. Once you have found 50% of a dino's DNA, you may begin to produce them. Another thing that made me greatly enjoy this game is the ability to fly hellicopters and drive landcruisers. from these you can do many things including shooting dinos and taking pictures that you can sell to the public or use to promote the park.
The sound is excellent, weaving the original soundtrack into the background music. The T-Rex will occasionaly let out a blood curdling howl, and many herbavours will let out sqeals of joy as the run around with their friends.
Visualy it isn't stunning, but it certainly isn't unpleasent to look at either.
I greatly hope that they release an expansion pack with more dinos and more stuff to build in your park. In clossing, if you are a fan of Jurassic Park, theme park games, or just well made games, make sure not to miss the fun of Jurassic Park Project Genesis.
