If you get one with a faulty part, too bad!

Don't buy! We really want to love the fridge, but 22 months later the control board broke and the fridge's temperature plummeted. This faulty part they installed - the part that controls how the refrigerator works - is sadly not covered beyond KitchenAid's one year warranty (while other elements of the fridge that are meant to keep the fridge cool get a 5 year warranty). The excuse was this part is not running 90% of the time, so it doesn't get the extended warranty. The part costs a measly $200, so I'm not clear why there's resistance on their part to review their conditions of warranty. More importantly, a $3,000(Cdn) fridge should not break after less than 2 years in operation.
Since KitchenAid isn't willing to take responsibility for the faulty part they installed,  we won't buy another item from them ever again. Too bad... we had our eye on a mixer.
