Author's Review

Recently our 35mm point and shoot camera broke. We quickly learned that most people were buying digital rather than film cameras. We debated months over which camera to buy. After doing lots of research, we arrived at the Kodak DX6440. We chose this camera for several reasons. We knew we were not going to be fiddling with manual adjustments and wanted something fully automated. We also like the idea of being able to use a universal battery type and memory format-- AA's and scan disk. I have now had the camera for a week and have nothing but great things to say. The photos are clear and have vivid color, much better than anything I ever took with a film camera. After reading through the manual for 30 mins, all the features and controls became quite intuitive and rather easy to use. The software is basic but meets my needs. The camera is fairly compact. They now package the printer dock with the camera. The dock works quite nicely and the photo quality is excellent, a tad worse than when I go to the local photo developer. I don't recommend using the doc printer as the average price per print comes out to be about $0.63 vs $0.24 at Walmart and $0.19 on the internet. While a great camera, the two cons are the flimsy battery cover and the flash. It seem that the camera works best in the outdoors. Many indoor pictures came out a little dark, which I attribute to the flash not being bright enough-- just a guess? All in all, I am very happy with my choice and would recommend this camera.
