Media Madness City

This film makes quite a statement on today's society. It is the story of modern media, getting the story at "all costs," and about the difficulty of getting off the wrong "path."

Lead by two powerhouse actors, Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta, this film takes us along, inside the drama of a news story. Inside the motivations, actions, and consciences of the characters wrapped up inside the media drama. What I found so fascinating is the parallel to reality. This film dramatically, and often movingly, captures the sad path our media society is following.

Hoffman plays a jaded career newsman edging past his prime. He wants a big story to get back into the Networks, to get back "on top." Travolta is a rather simple-witted working man who is fired from his job and, in a desperate and ill-conceived moment, makes the mistake of his life. Hoffman brings the camera, and the public, along, and we see a bit about humanity on the way.

Co-stars Alan Alda as a truly insincere and cold, self-serving professional rival. Rated PG-13.
