Where is the Topo?

Pros:  Fast, strong reception, good size, easy to see, easy to understand.

Cons:  Promised TOPO maps not available yet.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I wanted a GPS that I could use for traveling, and hiking. The 2200t claims to be upgradable to the crossOverGPS.

I bought this unit yesterday, and have been extremely impressed with the reception. It has consistently tracked 10 satellites in my basement. No other GPS has been able to even lock on 2D inside for me. The display is clear, and a good size. The maps seem accurate for the areas that I know.

My only concern is that I can't seem to find the TOPO upgrade that was promised. Other blogs report that it was promised in January, had some delays, and now Magellan doesn’t even mention it on their web site.

I paid $299 for this unit from Costco. I have found the CrossoverGPS for $376 on Amazon. The upgrade was announced to be $49, but with no availability date, I think I will be returning this unit, and getting the CrossoverGPS from Amazon.
