I have learned several things since I started in the business of appliances. Most importantly I have learned that price is a good place to start for quality. They dont always go hand in hand but there is a relationship. This machine is not only a decent price for the size and power, but it does not have complex controls that get in the way.
Lets face it; money drives most decisions when it comes to buying major appliances. Sure, we would all like to have the G3 micro-oven by Whirlpool, but the reality is that we dont want to pay $600+ for it. I got the MMV4205 in stainless steel for $150 (remember I sell appliances) so it was an easy choice. In general though, 1000 watts or more is what people expect when it comes to a microwave. This makes doe a decent cooking / reheating time. The size is nice in big and with the metal rack and option to turn off the turntable, you can re-heat up to 4 plates of food at once. Wrap all these things up and you get a good microwave that is flexible to your needs for the price.
One of the largest reasons why the general public does not adopt new technology quickly most of the time is because of complex controls. The MMV4205 makes this a little easier than the real costly models by having real easy to understand menus. If you want to melt something, hit the melt button and the machine will give you a few choices like butter or cheese. If you want to soften the cheese, butter or even ice cream, just hit the soften button. It will also do auto defrost and auto reheat of foods. The only down side I have found is that since I am in the Denver area (altitude), the auto settings dont work as well as they should. Defrost, auto melt, and the like take just about 10% longer. Since these are just timed cycles I have to manually set them in longer. This should not be a problem if you are cooking closer to sea level. But these features are easy to use nonetheless and they are actually features that most of us will use.
Keep in mind that if you want something that will do more than a normal microwave, you need to look at a different model. This model will work for most people who reheat coffee and a dinner plate. Over all, I would recommend this microwave if you want a good microwave and you dont want to spent a ton on coin on it.
