Could have, would have, didn't.

Eidos comes forward with a game highly reminiscent of Tomb Raider and Soul Reaver, except they put you in a futuristic world and throw in some RPG for the casual gamer. Omicron is a good example of a game that could have easily been incredible, but somehow a complete dumbutt at Eidos decided to use the freakiest, most unintelligible font to completely screw up a perfectly good game. There are also other problems, but this one alone just makes you want to smash your head against the TV.
Graphics 8/10
Although in-room graphics are mediocre at best, I was amazed by the dept of environment graphics in the city. 3D characters walk around or sit as bikes and automobiles drive by on the roads. There are also flying objects and mech-like robots walking around. And yeah, a lot of slutty looking babes go around looking like they just got kicked out of a strip club. It makes no sense, but it does look good.
Story Line 6/10
Where do you come up with this cheeseballs? Through your dreamcast, you are able to morph your soul into the body of a police officer in a different world. You play yourself inside the body of another mortal. Lame. Anyway, first thing that greets you as you walk into your apartment is a sexy girl in a tank-top and shorts. A few minutes of talk and an ugly 3D sex scene (or an overture I guess). Cheezy, cheezy. On the other hand, your job is to solve the mystery of what happened to you and your best friend. Somehow he got killed, and you disappeared 3 days ago. If only they had cut-off the cheezy stuff, the story line could have worked actually.
Game Play 6/10
Think of Tomb Raider environments, and Resident Evil: Code Veronica controls. Using the directional pad, you can walk forward and turn. There is no quick turn button, which can be an annoyance but its no biggie. There is also 3D fighting. Its no Soul Calibur, but its definitely better than the action in other adventure games. The game follows an interesting story line and is easy enough to figure out, but its plagued by a major, major problem. The text is almost impossible to read! Its tiny, and sometimes hideous. I guess they wanted to make it look cool, but god you have to be able to read the junk. Squinting and souring your face, you will want to shut down your system 2 minutes into the game. Luckily, most of the speech is digitized, so you don't have to read that stuff. But have fun figuring out what is says in your investigation files. Phew!
Conclusion 5/10
This game could have been great, but they totally destroyed it with the font. Its such an easy thing to fix, so it makes me wonder what kind of a doorknob was behind the original scheme. An angry designer sabotaging his last project before leaving his job? I don't know, but you better rent this game before buying it.
