The size and quality of the player is what to be expected in this price range.

The factory preset for battery life is 3 hours based on a LCD brightness level of 5 and using headphones. The life goes up to 6 hours if you turn down the brightness to -5. (The "up to 6 hours" as seen on the package) If you set it to 0, then you get 4 hours. With LCD off (playing on external monitor) then it will last 10 hours.

It comes with an AC power cord and a car adaptor, so battery length shouldn't be that much of an issue.

You can purchase the optional battery pack that can last 5 hours at default brightness and 10 hours at -5.
