RCA Wireless Speakers 150 Watt

by   Krak ,   Jan 5, 2004

Pros:  Easy set up, any/every cable and power cord included, after tuning little to no interference/static

Cons:  Lackluster sound quality, good but not for audio buffs

The Bottom Line:  For average joe, find cheap and buy.

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

You know when you got a computer back in the day from Gateway or Packard Bell? Well these are those speakers without the wires.

I had a New Years party and no stereo to entertain guests. Rather than put a CD in the DVD player and run it through the TV I figured a nice 6 hour mix on the computer would work perfect. Of course I don't want a CPU, monitor, etc taking up space in the downstairs. Meanwhile the computer must sit the the upstairs office. Enter wireless.

These speakers do what they say they would do. They do transmit through walls and after a bit of adjusting there was no static.

The installation was about as easy as it gets. A plug into your audio source and then you set up the speakers where you like and you're working.

If you wanted to go truly wireless you can by putting in about 90 batteries in the speakers themselves (see box for exact battery count) but it did come with AC cords for both speakers if you don't want to deprive the state of portable power.

You also get an adapter to hook into a DVD/VCR if you are going for some surround sound.

As I said before they sound like medium grade computer speakers. They sound a bit hollow when they are set normally. When you click over on the speaker to the bass option it sounds as if someone just threw a thick wool blanket on them.

I had the speakers for that party and then I returned them.

I paid about 100 dollars for them. I did see them on the net for about half that and I would possibly consider getting them for that price.

All in all, if you're looking for a deep rich full sound from these speakers, sorry. If you want reliable wireless speakers that produce mediocre sound for a decent price, here you go.
