All The Data You'll Ever Need In Your Hand

I recently started my freshman year of college as a computer science major. So you can imagine my need for a small portable flash drive, but this device is useful for anyone who uses multiple computers throughout their day to day life.

As I mentioned in the title its all the data you'll ever need in your hand. These drives really do fit right into your hand. And don't let their small size trick you into thinking they are flimsy or easily broken and lost. The drives are exetremely sturdy and solid and comes with a lanyard that allows you to wear it around your neck, other models also have keyrings on them that allow you to attach it straight to your keys. The only part of this drive that I could really say isn't built exetremely well is the cap that covers the USB port. If you aren't careful you could cause it to become to loose to stay on the tip of the drive but many models are now moving toward the strategy of allowing the port to recede into the drive eliminating the need for caps.

The drives are exetremely user friendly. You simply plug it into a USB port on any computer and the computer will take care of the rest for you. All you have to do is take your data off or put data on depending on what you are currently working on. And that brings us to the matter of speed. Just how fast do these drives take and retrieve data for you. The drives are made to work with USB 2.0 best, if you have USB 2.0 ports on your computer then you can expect transfer rates of up to 480mbps. If your computer is older and doesnt have any USB 2.0 ports the drives will still work but at the much slower pace of 12mbps. The speed difference shouldnt scare you away from buying one if you own an old computer, these things are still the best solution to getting data from one computer to the next.

The disk will store any type of computer file and transfer it to the computer's hard drive or print right off the flash drive itself. This particular model comes with 512 megabytes but if you feel you need more there are models in the 1GB and 2GB range. Being the poor college student I am I chose the 512Meg drive because it was the cheapest and I can not think of ever needing more than 512 megs of portable storage. These devices are absolutely amazing considering that just 10 years ago i owned a computer with only a 1GB hard drive.
