The Bottom Line:

Won't know until 5-8 years from now if it is still working, but my personal initial experience indicates that you are getting what you paid for.

Review: Bought the AIR-O-SWISS AOS U7142 at Bed Bath and Beyond to humidify our bedroom. Unit is more expensive than most, but the apparent superior build and component quality is why we made the purchase. I rather buy one expensive item hoping it will last...

This humidifier works like a charm...IF

The Bottom Line: Excellent humidifier especially if it is for a newborn. The vapor that is produced is not hot at all. Very safe for children.
Review: ...you do what the instructions say. I cannot stress this enough as the previous reviews seem to harshly criticize this model despite the fact the reviews at consumer guide for a model below this one were stellar. I went ahead and bought this model...

Not worth the money

The Bottom Line: Buy another humidifier--in fact, buy two, three, or four, since it'll probably cost less than buying this one.
Review: I bought this humidifier at Bed Bath & Beyond with one of their 20% off coupons. I took it home, tried it out, and found that it did such a poor job I returned it the next day. There were several problems:

Excellent Humidifier

Review: This humidifier is easy to operate and maintain. It has unique technology (ionic silver) to keep the water free of bacteria. The electronic humidistat is accurate, and lets you know when the desired humidity is achieved.

Don't bother - doesn't work and not worth the money

The Bottom Line: Don't bother. Messy and expensive and it doesn't work as well as the simple console type humidifiers.
Review: I found this humidifier when searching for a replacement for my old Sears console humidifier. I was attracted by its small size, elegant looks, and quietness.

Years ago I owned a small ultrasonic humidifier that I found to be more nuisance...
