Author's Review
If you want to listen to an aural chronological progression and development of bluegrass music from it's beginnings in 1936 to near current day this is all the music you need.
This box set contains the essential Bill Monroe, "Big Mon" the man who discovered/created/invented the sound and style. The enclosed booklet contains an excellent history of Bill Monroe with quotes and writings by former Bluegrass Boys and the many people and styles he influenced himself. From Elvis Presley the Father of Rock and Roll to the many Bluegrass Boys that went on to successful careers (Earl Scruggs, Lester Flatt, Mac Wiseman, Del McCoury, John Hartford, Stringbean, Peter Rowan, Jimmy Martin, etal).
These four CDs are essential for anyone wanting either an introduction to Bluegrass music or the hardcore bluegrass music fan wanting to complete a collection. Contains previously unreleased live tunes from the Grand Ole Opry.
A must for the Bluegrass listener, musician, and fan.
