Bill's Viewpoints Hit Home!

by   Dunkjam ,   Apr 20, 2001

Pros:  Bill O'Reilly is a very well-read man and is very knowledgeable on his topics!

Cons:  A few chapters are a little boring!

The Bottom Line:  I recommend this book to those who want the truth, the facts and want to be entertained! Be prepared for a fast paced reading book!

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I ordered this book from Amazon.com and I was very happy to finally get to read it. To tell you the truth, I think I have heard several of his viewpoints that he writes about already on his popular "The O'Reilly Factor" which can be seen on the FoxNews Channel. I definitely feel that he is a better news host on his show than he is a writer. But I enjoyed reading this book because it helped me to understand his views better.

This book is easy to read and is divided into twenty small chapters which include the following topics:
1.The Class factor
2.The Money factor
3.The Sex factor
4.The Media factor
5.The Drug and Alcohol factor
6.The Job factor
7.The Parents factor
8.The Dating factor
9.The Spouse factor
10.The Child factor
11.The Celebrity factor
12.The Politics factor
13.The Race factor
14.The Religion factor
15.The Success factor
16.The Friendship factor
17.The Ridiculous factor
18.The Bad factor
19.The Good factor
20.The Gratitude factor

As the titles of the chapters suggest, Bill discusses his viewpoint on our class system, politicians with names included, how drugs and alcohol can affect our success in life and contribute to 75 percent of all physical abuse against our helpless kids!

I like the fact that Bill O'Reilly is an independent man and he is not afraid to give his viewpoints and sticks with them! One negative aspect of this book is that when he is talking on a subject that I am interested in, I feel he does not give enough information on it. One example is in his chapter on Celebrity, he talks about Warren Beatty and his disappointment with the Democratic Party political profile. Then O'Reilly suggests that Warren buy a condo in Havana! Sometimes his viewpoints come across as arrogant and utterly ridiculous!

Bill also likes to "name drop" people that are well-known and a few of his escapades that he had with them. He definitely wants everyone to know that he has had his share of socialites in dating, but he is a gentleman and never gives out a name or what he did on the dates.

In The Ridiculous Chapter, Bill talks a lot about former President Bill Clinton and he goes on to say that he will go down in history along with Warren Harding and Richard Nixon, as one of the most corrupt presidents in the twentieth century! He also feels that Janet Reno did not do her job well and she enabled Clinton to do just about anything he wanted. A few other people that O'Reilly thinks are ridiculous are Jerry Springer, Rosie O'Donnell, Charles Manson and Larry Flint. I will not comment any further on this chapter because I want you to enjoy it when you read it.

Bill writes his own thoughts on what is good in America and what is bad. I do agree with most of his thoughts in these chapters. His final chapter is of his gratitude for reading his book. He gives you his postal address and his e-mail address if you want to send him your thoughts on his book. In all honesty, I think that Bill O'Reilly is very brave to take on the government and certain powerful people. I appreciate the fact that he gives me "the straight news" when I watch his news show and he allows people to come on the show with different viewpoints. But he is not going to let guest say untruthful statements without interrupting and setting the record straight. I feel he knows his topics thoroughly and he could debate on my team any day of the week!
