Grant & Kelly Sizzle on the Riviera!

This may not be Hitchcock's most suspenseful film, but what an amazing backdrop against the French Riviera! Cary Grant plays John Robie, a former jewel thief who is now working to clear his name and catch the current copy cat thief whose on the prowl. Grace Kelly plays Francie Stevens, the stunning all-American girl who falls for Robie and takes it upon herself to be his sidekick in solving the whodunnit mystery. Every visual aspect of this movie is thrilling.... the costuming is beautiful, the art direction is unmatched and the Mediterranean is a phenomenal frame to this captivating caper.
Cary Grant played many roles in his time, but this one was perhaps one of the most entertaining. Not only does he get to be the “bad guy,” but the audience also falls in love with him as we want to see John Robie NOT be the bad guy… we want to see him clear his name, we want to see him be proven innocent and, of course, we want to see him end up in the arms of the beautiful Francie Stevens.
The film also offers a wonderful performance from supporting actress Jessie Royce Landis as Francie’s sharp witted mother who’s out to nab the charming former criminal for her little girl. Definitely a must-see for anyone who enjoys Hitchcock films or wants to enjoy a little bit of Hollywood glamour.
