Author's Review
I believe that Carrie Underwood is one of America's best Idols. The first time I heard her perform in season 4 of American Idol, I fell in love with her voice. Some Hearts is a track that young and old can listen to. Her music is clean and has wonderful messages.
I bought her soundtrack Some Hearts as soon as it was released November 15, 2005 and have listened to it almost everyday since then. I love that each one of her songs tells a story. There is a spirit about her music that is not felt in a lot of music these days.
A lot of her cd has a pop/rock feel to it but Carrie Underwood definitely knows how to put her country slant on it. I think this is one of the reasons why she is doing so well in the music business; she knows how to please her country fans and also those that love pop and rock.
I will give you a brief description of each song so you get a feel of her soundtrack and how wonderful it is.
"Wasted" I love this song because it makes you reflect on your own life and the things that are most important to you. Don't waste the time that you have, now is the time to live. This song is for the pop/rock and country lovers for sure. Along with Carries amazing voice she is accompanied by piano, guitar and drums in this song.
"Don't Forget To Remember Me. This song helped me remember where I was from and that I had a family that loves and cares for me when I was going off to college. I love this song for the words, Carries voice, piano, and violin. I also love the soft guitar at the beginning of this song
"Some Hearts" This song has a pop twist to it, which makes it really fun, and up beat. I love this song because it showcases her voice.
"Jesus Take The Wheel" This is the prettiest song on the track. I love the meaning in this song. It talks about how we can't go throughout this life on our own. We need to sometimes let "Jesus take the wheel" in our lives. I love this song because it has the VIOLIN in it. I think the violin makes this song that much better. The instruments come together so well in this song. If you saw the 2005 CMA awards you would have seen Carrie perform this song.
"The Night Before (Life Goes On)" I love this song because sometimes we have to leave behind things in our life's that are really important to us so we can continue on with our life's.
"Lessons Learned" I love the message of this song because it's saying that life isn't easy; we make mistakes but those are "lessons learned" and we become stronger from that. This song has lots of ups and downs. It goes from a pretty ballad sounding to pop/rock and then back down to a soft tone and then back to the pop/rock sound. It's great
"Before He Cheats" This is one of my least favorite songs on the track, but it also is many peoples favorite. It has a harder edge to it, so those of you that like rock will enjoy this.
"Starts With Goodbye" This song is beautiful and one I think you will love.
"I Just Can't Live A Lie" I liked this song; it wasn't nearly my favorite though. Both of these songs start out really slow with the piano and then break out with drums and guitar and amazing vocals. They both are very pop sounding.
"We're Young And Beautiful" I really like this song because she is saying live your life to the fullest while your "young and beautiful". This song is pop but with a country twist. It kind of has a twangy sound to it but with the pop sound.
"That's Where It Is" The most important things are the people you love and the little things you do. I think this song is great for portraying that message. I love how the instruments are in this song it has a good balance of vocals, piano, and drums. It is SO beautiful.
"Whenever You Remember" I think this song is so beautiful. It is such a beautiful ballad. I hope you love it as much as I do.
"I Ain't In Checotah Anymore" This song is unique because Carrie actually helped write it. She is talking about her life and how she grew up in a small town but now has to adapt to the big city. This song is so great because it is so country sounding but it is so upbeat. I think what gives it more of a country sound is the banjo and the fiddle that is in the background
"Inside Your Heaven" This was Carrie's first single released after winning American Idol. It's slow, beautiful, and has once again great vocals. It is a great song and is definitely one of my favorites.
Carrie Underwood is amazing and this soundtrack proves it. It is mostly for the country listener but there for sure is some pop and rock in some of her songs. She is so talented and so humble about it too. She is someone that all ages can look up too. This soundtrack you can listen to over and over and not get sick of it.
