Author's Review
I purchased this TV new and have owned it for about 3 months now. Let's start off with the good. It has a lot of inputs that are desirable. Like connecting my Laptop directly to it with a VGA cable. Which provides a nice clear picture. And can handle some high resolution (1366X768 @ 60Hz). With the DVD player connected with HD the picture is very nice.
The BAD. I have went to turn my TV on and it would not come on. The remote would not work to turn it on, and the pushing the power button on the TV would not work either. I left for a few minutes, came back and the TV was on!! I believe it has software glitches. With the TV off, the speakers make a slight humming noise. If the TV is off, why are the speakers making noise???. If you unplug the TV when it is off. It makes a loud pop from the speakers. To me the speakers are not impressive. On certain sound frequencies the plastic on the TV vibrates making some stupid noises. On a lower quality input, I often see a purple haze while watching satellite TV. With that same input on my old Sony projection, I never see the purple haze. It seems to me that the LCD doesn't like the lower quality video. Because it works great with High quality inputs. also know someone with this exact TV, and they have returned it once for replacement, Because it wouldn't turn on. I think that if you get to technical with this TV (I.e. messing around with resolutions, Refresh rates, ext. You may glitch the software and it will crash and not come back on.
This is a follow-up,
I decided I would try to do something about the nasty purple haze on my westing house 32" LCD TV (SK-32H240S) So recently I took the hole TV apart and tried to see if I could find anything wrong. After looking it over. I did not find much of anything that looked bad. So I tried to improve the existing ground contacts. And zip-tie some wires to tidy it up. After putting it all back together. To my amazement, The purple haze was gone and has been gone since. I don't understand it, but now it is much more enjoyable :)
