Great Story:Wonderful Message

This inspirational story by Max Lucado is a story of self worth, hope and love. Great read for everyone!

The Story:
Eli, the woodcarver of a small village, carves the Wemmicks that inhabit the village. Each Wemmick is different from the other, none are the exact same. The Wemmicks carry around stickers of gray dots, and yellow stars. If one Wemmick likes, appreciates, or admires another Wemmick he or she plants a yellow star on the other as a sign of praise. If a Wemmick dislikes, or thinks another Wemmick is not as good as another then a gray dot is placed on the Wemmick.
Puchinello is a Wemmick who is covered in gray dots. His paint is chipping, he can't jump high, he can't sing, ect. He is afraid to go out in the streets because sometimes the Wemmicks see that he has gray dots so for no reason at all they put another dot on him. One day Puchinello meets Lucia. Lucia has something strange about her; she has absolutely no dots or starts on her. Puchienello thinks that is how it life should be stickerless. He asks her what her secret is. She says that when Wemmicks put stickers on her they just fall off. She then encourages Punchinello to go and see Eli. When Punchinello finally decided to go and visit the old woodcarver, he finds that Eli is kind and loving. Eli calls Punchinello special because he made him. At the end of the visit, Punchinello begins to believe that Eli really loves him, and one of the dots falls off.

AND THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS:
Isn't it obvious. Eli is the Wemmick maker and he cares. The more time spent with him the less Punchinello cares about what the other Wemmicks think. The basic moral is: Everyone is special, and we shouldn't care what others think.

AUDIENCE:
This one is obvioulsy directed to children. The story helps them remember that they are special, and increases their self worth. But I can say that as an adult I really enjoy the message that this book has to offer as well. Sometimes we all need to be reminded that we are all special.

DESCRIPTION:
The book is about a foot long and a foot wide. It is a hardback book, with a red cover that is beautifully illustrated by Sergio Martinez. The illustrations all through out the book are extremely detailed and fine pieces of art.

You are Special carries the message of self worth in a simple but powerful way. It has changed my perspective on life. It reminds me that everyone is special, if not to man, then to a greater being.

I highly recommend this one for every occasion. Everyone needs to be reminded of his or her undeniable worth
