Product Review

New iMAC GREAT!

by   spirit42 ,   Nov 29, 2004

Pros:  Sleek, clean and uncluttered, very fast and friendly

Cons:  Need a mouse with a scroll wheel.

The Bottom Line:  If you are tired of messing around with Windows security flaws then this machine is a must. It does cost a little more but then no Windows headaches.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I just converted from a PC based world to a new iMAC G5 and I'm never going back. I won't go into all the detail already discussed in the previous 2 reviews but I will say that it is worth the extra money to go for a MAC.

I love its utter simplicity when it comes to security and will not miss devoting a lot of time to Windows security updates and to all the other programs I had to have to keep the malware at bay.

I opted for the MAC super drive and 512 MB of RAM and the machine screams. Biggest hurdle to overcome was the changed GUI in Microsoft office and Quicken and reacquainting myself to the MAC OS. It took some doing to export my contacts from Outlook and Quicken but I used a Falshdisk and it made it very easy.

My machine came with a free Epson printer and the bundled software is more than adequate for most home computing. If you want to have the Apple store move data from the PC, they will do it if you haul your PC in. I did it on my own in about 4 hours total including setting up my email accounts. The Apple store loaded the OS and all the programs, set up my .iMAC account, etc.
